September 2026 - IVF 2025 Online and Physical Video Market Figures Released

As part of the IVF's ongoing research activities, we are delighted to announce the release of the IVF 2025 Online and Physical Video Market Figures - see under Market Information. Comprehensive data at EU and national level have been compiled by the IVF's member associations, in close collaboration with the research company Omdia.

Research by EY, co-sponsored by the IVF, confirms that the film and audiovisual sector is at the heart of innovation, digitization, cultural diversity, and entrepreneurship in Europe with a EUR 49.6 billion contribution to the European economy and 2 million direct and indirect jobs.

2025 saw the video publishing sector in Europe grow by 13.3% in total consumer spending, reaching EUR 35.8 billion spent on various online distribution models and on physical carriers. Continuing the trend of earlier years, consumer spending on digital distribution models grew by 14.3%, whereas consumer spending physical formats contracted by 21%.

The video publishing sector in Europe thus continues to secure annual double-digit growth in consumer spending, adding additional online distribution models and developing physical formats. A healthy video market online and offline continues to play an indispensable role both in offering multiple and diverse access and price options to audiences, but also by ensuring a fundamental contribution to the overall economy and sustainability of the film and audiovisual sector.
